I just got back from the gym and I thought Idea to share with you guys my green smoothie you know the whole idea of the green smoothie is missing a leafy green.
Today I have spinach kale works really good too if you're new to the green smoothies you can use romaine lettuce something a little bit lighter with the crunch but, not such a bold taste so, I already have most my ingredients already chopped up and laid out here, I just make this post a little quicker.
I like to use it when I'm using bananas to smooth the other two's frozen bananas, I find they give the smoothie a thicker texture and it makes it's cold obviously. It took item chopped it up why already, I mean chopped it up this one is normally what they look like when they are frozen they're a little brown not that appetizing looking but they're great when they're ripe and you freeze them they're super sweet it's also good for making a slice of banana bread so pretty much even though it's frozen it's really easy to take off the peel. You just cut off the edges I cut mine also in half and you just turn inside and easily peel off the skin as I have mine already chopped up that's one. Whole frozen banana so has that there for this recipe you're also going to need about half a cup to a cup of frozen berries. I have frozen wild uh blueberries here that's just what I had I like using berries because it really takes away from the spinach taste and hence this is why it's not really a green but looking green smoothie and this is gonna make it like a purple color.
I also have to get your make of three oils I have some grounded flax seed you know how you would normally make this is beautiful flat seats here we'll just store in the fridge. What I need it I just put it in the little have a separate grinder, not the same one you would use for coffee have a separate grinder and I just grind up a little bit small batches because you want to make sure it's fresh to ground Boxey it's when you're using it to really get the full benefits if you just put full Asti and flaxseed in your smoothie, I mean if you have a really good blender it would ground it up but you only absorb the Amaya threes when it is ground so there's my it's about tablespoon that's what, I have and then I also have like I said spin inches it's just baby spinach. You can also use it because I need fresh finishes, at last, the longest. I find it was bad really quickly a trick I do is I put a piece of paper towel in it absorbs the moisture and isn't brought as quickly you can all just have used that person in spinach I find because the one I use was baby spinach is regular frozen spinach gave it a bit of stronger spinach taste us if you want a lighter taste Stephanie baby spinach also you can need a protein powder, I have two kinds here I have unflavored this is good when I'm using chocolate almond milk or something that's already gonna add flavor and I don't need any added sugar.
Today since we're actually just gonna be using water for the base we're not using any almond milk which you can but, I find it's just very hydrating especially after the gym just used water I'm just gonna use a vanilla protein powder it's gonna give it a nice flavor and kind of give it like a thicker milky substance because it's a whey protein. I also put this one is interactive nutrition brand, so I grabbed a few so we're just gonna start with our banana that did actually do smells pretty quickly so that was sitting there for a bit so it's already kinds of just thought I'm next okay don't go light on the spinach the more you put the better see him dropping it on the floor too all right so I take a big you know big handful and I put it in it looks a little scary I know but it's really good.
Next, we're gonna add the berries okay and like so you can use I' also had in the freezer like mixed berries or you can use raspberries whatever you like I just find I had this right now and it tastes good so next we're gonna add the flaxseed the ground flax and scoop just about be careful because blue blueberries go everywhere especially frozen blueberries the juice just drips and it goes all over you should be running a white shirt but so we're just gonna take a scoop of the protein powder and put that right in there and I only do when running my water I just have some fresh filtered water here I'm also very cold you're gonna be drinking it right away especially because it has banana in it fried banana smoothies. You need to drink right away or else you know if you have if you were to cut up a banana, I would go brown and after 20 minutes of it sitting there so make sure it's fresh you're gonna drink it right away so you want some fresh cold water so your smoothies not you know room temperature. So I normally fill mine up just until I hit the spinach I need one the other day and I' did mine about here and it made an app for about two and a half glasses so I think I overdid the water you don't have to put all your water in that one.
So actually right now I'm just gonna leave it like that I'm gonna blend it I'm gonna see if I want it a thicker consistency or a thinner whatever you like so it's gonna get a little lager and put our blender on first okay that should be about the good we don't really put any heavy things in here doesn't take long to blend. So you're just gonna grab a nice tall glass as you can see it has a purple look to it I the other day put a lot like I put a full cup of blueberries this time I only put half so it was really purple so it definitely will change color depending on how many berries that you put in there so we're just gonna fill that right up as you can see it actually makes quite a bit see I didn't need that extra water so I would say I've used about a cup and a half of water to make this in out and it will easily make two cups so you can definitely. Serve it to you so that's my smoothie this is great for in the morning it's very energizing it's good for after workout like I'm having today because you're having the protein which is gonna rebuild your muscles and it tastes really good like I don't taste the spinach at all you could always use that less spinach if you're new to these and you find you can still taste a little bit I've been having green smoothies for a very long time. So I definitely don't notice the green taste but when I first heard about them I thought it was odd putting you know greens into a fruit smoothie but definitely try this out let me know what you think and let me know if you have any of your own green smoothie recipes that you would like me to try or me to showcase on my site.
